Cheer UAE has been officially recognized by the International Cheer Union (ICU) as the National Governing Body for the Sport of Cheer in the United Arab Emirates. This recognition covers both Cheerleading and Performance Cheer, and it marks a defining moment for the sport’s development across the country.

What ICU Recognition Means for Cheer in the UAE

The International Cheer Union is the world governing body for Cheer and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The ICU represents 126 national members worldwide, and Cheer UAE now joins that global network as the official representative of the sport in the Emirates.

As the recognized National Governing Body, Cheer UAE is positioned to lead the growth of Cheer nationally while connecting UAE athletes, coaches, and teams to the international stage.

A Message from Cheer UAE President Andy Cosferent

Andy Cosferent, President of Cheer UAE, shared the following statement on the announcement:

“This is an incredible milestone for Cheer in the UAE and globally. Being at the forefront of this movement in the region, we hope to inspire and encourage other nations to join the growing global Cheer movement. Our commitment is to establish a strong national pathway for athlete development, education, safety, competitions, and international representation, creating opportunities for future generations of athletes.”
